Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the area.

Patchy freezing rain is expected to start over northwestern Alberta Thursday morning (Jan.20) and move eastward across the province during the day.

Highways, roads, and walkways may become icy and slippery. Environment Canada asks everyone to take extra care when walking or driving.

Areas affected include Fort Saskatchewan, northern Strathcona County, Sherwood Park, Bruderheim, Lamont, Bon Accord, Gibbons, Namao, Redwater, and Morinville.
