Due to construction work, Fort Saskatchewan’s Transfer Station and Recycle Depot will temporarily close from June 6 to 10.

For those who cannot wait to get rid of unwanted materials during this time, the city recommends visiting nearby transfer stations, including the Broadview Enviroservice Station in Strathcona County.

Upgrades to the Transfer Station have been going on since last summer. Some of the upgrades include paving the site to allow for smoother and more streamlined traffic flow and more capacity to handle more hazardous materials and waste, including Styrofoam packaging.

A scale will also be added so residents can start paying for disposal by weight rather than by volume.

The city hopes to have all the work completed by the fall.
