Fort Saskatchewan's U18 AAA Rangers secured a spot in Canada's most prestigious invite-only tournament.

The boys will be playing in the Mac's U18 AAA World Invitational Tournament in Calgary.

The weeklong invitational tournament will feature top-tier teams from Canada, the States and Europe. Every year, 25 teams compete. NHL stars like Sidney Crosby, Jarome Iginla and Patrick Laine have all participated in the games.

Fort Saskatchewan will be playing in Pool 4 -- they will be facing the Calgary Northstars, St. Louis Junior Blues, Greater Vancouver Canadians and Yale Hockey Academy.

The Rangers have never won the tournament, however, Fort Saskatchewan did take home the runner-up trophy in 1999.

Currently, the Rangers are sitting in first place in Alberta's North Division with a record of 18-1-2.

Games start on Dec.27. Fort Saskatchewan will be facing the Yale Hockey Academy at 10 a.m.
