The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP was keeping an eye on the roads this holiday season.
From Christmas Eve on Friday (Dec.24) to Tuesday, officers handed out only two traffic tickets and reported no impaired driving offenses.
"This is below the normal which I believe is a result of the extreme cold weather. This limited traffic volume tremendously," said RCMP Corporal Devon Lafreniere.
He said they were able to direct those police resources toward collision investigations as road conditions were poor over the weekend.
Under the Provincial Administrative Penalties Act, impaired drivers face fines up to $2,000 and can lose their vehicles for up to 30 days.
