The Fort Saskatchewan Straightline Dodge AAA U18 Rangers have taken over the ice this season.

Currently, the Rangers are sitting comfortably at the top of the North Division and second overall in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) with a 20W-4L record, only rivalled by the Calgary Buffalos.

“The win-loss record will always be a product of everything else you’re doing, and we’ve had a lot of close games,” said Rangers head coach Brett Cox.

Cox believes there is no dominant team in the league this season, and any team can beat anyone. He added the Rangers attitude and expectation has been to win every game and prepare to work harder in the event of a loss.

In addition to a stellar season, individual players have been recently recognized for their work. Rangers defenceman Ashton Funk was recognized as the Source for Sports Player of the Month for December. Funk currently leads all U18 AAA defencemen with 22 points in 22 games.

The Rangers next game is on Saturday (Jan.22) at 1:45 p.m. against the St. Albert Nektar Raiders.
