Expect this weekend to be a mixed bag.
Environment Canada meteorologist Jesse Wagar says Saturday’s (Feb.19) high of 5 C is the warmest temperature we’ll be seeing for a while as the mercury is set to plummet that evening.
“We’re expecting a cold front to sweep through Saturday evening – and that’s going to drop the temperature significantly,” said Wagar.
Sunday’s high will hover around -17 C, and Family Day Monday will see a high of -18 C.
In addition to the frigid temperatures, we can expect more flurries when the cold front moves in.
Wagar added temperatures aren’t expected to improve until the end of next week.
“So, if you want to take advantage of the nice weather, I would go earlier in the day on Saturday before that cold front goes through.”
The average daily high for February in the heartland is around -3 C.
