Employers with 50 or less full-time employees have two and a half weeks to apply for the Canada Summer Jobs initiative.
Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan MP, Garnett Genuis explains it's a long standing program to create summer jobs for students between 15 and 30 years old. Genuis notes "The requirement is employers (not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses) are providing some type of meaningful work experience." Genuis adds "He knows some employers in this area taking advantage of the program in the past."
Not for profit organizations are eligible for up to 100% of the Provincial minimum wage, while private businesses can get 50%.
