The Edmonton Elite are coming back to Fort Saskatchewan.
Introduced into the Alberta Football League (AFL) in 2020, the Elite chose Taurus Field in Fort Saskatchewan as their home field during their first season in 2021.
The Elite finished last year's regular season with three wins and one loss, second overall in the league. They were beaten only by the Central Alberta Buccaneers, who went undefeated the entire year.
Now, they will be returning for the upcoming season.
“The City of Fort Saskatchewan welcomes the Edmonton Elite Football Club with open arms. I hope to see all their fans out there at the Taurus Field again this year,” said mayor Gale Katchur. “I am very excited for them to be back again this year and for years to come.”
People will be able to catch them in action at Taurus Field on June 11 when they face the Mort McMurray Monarchs, June 25 against the Airdrie Irish and July 16 versus the Calgary Wolf Pack.
Practices are also open for the public to watch. They go most Thursday nights starting in May, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and their main training camp will run from May 13-15.
