Keith Thorne, from the Fort Saskatchewan Food Gatherers Society, says the food bank is up 30% on numbers for hampers this holiday season, and are looking for volunteers to help deliver the donations. Volunteers can sign up at the CO-OP or at the food bank. 30 drivers are currently enrolled, but 60 or 70 are needed.
The Food Gatherers Society has also set a goal for forty thousand dollars. Twenty five thousand has currently been raised but Thorne is confident Fort Saskatchewan will come through and raise the full amount. Any cash donations made at the Bank Of Nova Scotia will be doubled by the bank.
Drivers will be gathering at Heartland Centre, bay 108, at 9am Saturday morning.
**Please note, that due to confidentiality concerns, only those who are 18 years of age and older can make the deliveries.**
