The Dow Centennial Centre is open for business after a small fire yesterday.  The fire was caused by a surge to the electrical system and the building was evacuated around 11:30 am on Tuesday, November 3rd.

The City stated that an electrical contractor was brought in to review the situation and follow through with necessary repairs, which is why the building remained closed for the remainder of Tuesday.

Pre-scheduled programs and events that were to have taken place on Tuesday night were rescheduled or moved to another location.

In the release from the City, Recreation Director Barb Shuman said, “We are sorry to have this disruption to our programs and services and we apologize for the inconvenience, but we are very grateful that no one was injured."
