Sherwood Park Crusaders' forward Carmelo Crandell has committed to Colgate University.

Crandell will play for the Division 1 school in New York next season.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey including my family, friends, coaches, and trainers. I look forward to being a part of such an incredible program,” Crandell said.

The 17-year-old is in his second season with the Cru.

“Carmelo is a dedicated student-athlete and he has developed into a difference maker on our team. We look forward to Carmelo continuing as a leader for us and eventually for the Raiders,” stated Crusaders' head coach Evan McFeeters.

In his rookie season, Crandell collected 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists).

Crandell played his minor hockey in St. Albert for the Sabers (U15 AAA), Flyers (U16 AAA), and Raiders (U18 AAA).
