Fort Saskatchewan RCMP are hoping comprehensive checks and patrols will help reduce illegal activity.

Since January, police have taken a proactive focus in local residential and business areas.

277 vehicles were looked over, eleven were unlocked and one was unattended with keys left in the ignition.

During residential neighbourhood checks, four garages were found unsecured. The homeowners were notified.

Patrols also led to two drug seizures and a warrant apprehension.

"We are appreciative of the efforts by all residents who assist on a daily basis to reduce crime within the communities," said Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Constable Suzanne Ahlstrom

As the warmer weather approaches, police are reminding all residents to remain cautious in securing their vehicles and property.
