Firefighters had to battle the heat and the cold when responding to a fire in Lamont County.

Before 6 a.m. on Monday (Dec.27), fire crews from Lamont, Chipman, Bruderheim and Mundare were called to a fire in a large shop on a rural property. The property is near Township Road 533 and Range Road 185.

While crews were on the scene, the area was under an extreme cold warning. According to regional fire chief Shayne Milliken, temperatures caused issues for both the firefighters and the equipment in various ways. However, they were still able to put the fire out and keep the flames from spreading to any other buildings.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
