The City of Fort Saskatchewan has posted the first draft of the 2016 budget on their website. This is the first of many steps before the final draft is finalized and accepted. Part of the missing puzzle is the Transit pilot project, which is still being scrutinized.
The numbers so far have the municipal operating budget at $71.0 million and the capital budget set for $10.1 million. Taxpayers will be wondering how this will change their taxes in the upcoming year, but those numbers won't be released until the final budget is approved and passed.
The public is welcome to attend any upcoming meetings, or to stream them live online. The meetings will take place from 9 am - 6 pm and are set for: November 17th, then November 19th and 23rd. The final budget approval is scheduled for a meeting on December 8th at the Council meeting.
