The West River's Edge Skating loop is officially making a return this season.

On Tuesday (Dec.14), Fort Saskatchewan city council approved the 2022 Budget, which includes extra funding for winter recreation at West River's Edge. In addition to the skating loop, the city will be installing an ice slide in the area.

"Council did make the decision to put additional funds in so that this will be an annual event that happens," said mayor Gale Katchur.

Also in the 2022 budget is additional funding for two snowbank rinks in the city. In a previous interview with MIX 107, parks services manager Janelle Hart said the extra rinks would be located off Bremner Crescent and the other off Redding Way.

The skating loop is set to open on Friday.
