Fort Chiefs Coach Scott Chartrand in studio

Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs hockey is back for another season!

The home opener is tomorrow night for the Fort Saskatchewan Senior AAA Chiefs at the Jubilee Recreation Centre with puck drop at 8:15pm.  Fort Chiefs Coach Scott Chartrand is pretty happy with the look of this years roster for the Fort Chiefs, with a lot of returning veterans and a 3 way battle for goal, but he says the defense will be light on players.

"We're down to 4 or 5, we were at 7 last year.  It's a weak spot for us, not that the players are weak but it's weak that they have a big load to handle"

The Chiefs are coming off a 9 to 4 win last weekend against the Sylvan Lake Admirals where Trevor Kordyban had a 6 point night.  The focus is now on the Stony Plain Eagles, a rivalry that has been building since last year.  Chartrand says it'll be a great game to watch for the hometown crowd.

"Tomorrow nights game will be a big game, there's always a lot of intensity whenever we play Stony Plain"

Sunday afternoon at 2pm, The Fort Chiefs are back in action on the road to battle The Bentley Generals which Coach Chartrand says will be the big test.

"They're not going to be a team that accepts defeat, we've had some success but we haven't been able to climb that mountain and take them over"

Coach Chartrand knows there's lots on the line this season since the Bentley Generals will be hosting the 2013 Allan Cup and 2 teams from Alberta will be competing in the tournament.
