After the Edmonton and Calgary Catholic School Boards cancelled all international trips, Elk Island Catholic Schools has decided to continue to review international trips on a case by case basis.

Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Michael Hauptman says the Board of Trustees made the decision at their meeting yesterday (Dec. 16/15) after he shared information from foreign affairs, Canadian travel alerts, legal advice and insurance companies.

Elk Island Catholic Schools is not changing their waiver form for international trips but parents will now be asked to sign a letter of consent.  Hauptman says the new letter will double check with parents so they make an informed decision about how the trip can be cancelled right up to and during because of safety issues and the financial implications.

Hauptman adds the Division reserves the right to not allow trips to certain locations.
