Babies are once again being born at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital.

Lindsay and Steven Buck welcomed Sophie Hope Haley Buck to the world on Wednesday (Apr.7) at 10:55 a.m. She weighed 6 lbs and 10 oz.

Sophie is the Buck's fourth child and only girl.

"[The boys are] obsessed. They actually fight over her to feed her. Not change her, but feed her and hold her," Lindsay laughed. "It's great. I'm on cloud nine."

The family has lived in Fort Saskatchewan for over four years, moving here after the Fort McMurray fires in 2016.

According to Lindsay, Sophie was supposed to be the first baby born at the local hospital after they resumed labour and delivery services in late March. However, her due date was pushed back a few days, resulting in Sophie's birth being one of the first.

"The nurses were pretty excited and so attentive, so sweet and so helpful all the time," Lindsay said. "They were amazing. They all cheered when they found out it was a girl because I didn't know either."

She added she was happy delivery services are back, and she was able to give birth in Fort Saskatchewan instead of having to drive all the way to the Sturgeon Community Hospital.
