On Dec.29 at 12:50 a.m., Two Hills RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 45 near Andrew.

A truck that had gone off the road into the ditch and the sole occupant was taken to hospital by STARS with serious injuries, from which he later recovered.

The RCMP's investigation included an analysis of the driver’s blood-alcohol level and it was found to have been over two times the legal limit of 0.8 per cent.

As a result, 61-year-old Steven Mark Hoof from Ardrossan has been charged with impaired driving and driving with blood-alcohol exceeding the legal limit.

Alberta's provincial sanctions for impaired driving include a 30-day impoundment of the vehicle, a $1,000 fine, a 90-day driving suspension and a requirement to use an ignition interlock for 12 months when the suspension is lifted.

He is scheduled to appear in Vegreville Provincial Court on March 15.
