Local artist Ashley Rosenow is raising funds for the families of the two EPS officers who were killed earlier this month.

Rosenow, the owner of Illustrious Interiors, created The Heart Beats On, an original painting which depicts two hands holding a blue heart.

"I painted this piece for our brothers and sisters in blue who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty," said Rosenow.

EPS constables Travis Jordan and Brett Ryan are depicted as the hands holding up the heart. Both of them were killed by a 16-year-old boy in an altercation in Edmonton last week.

"I like to get my thoughts and ideas out through art, and I find that you never know who may resonate with the art piece. At the end of the day, if I can help one person heal through it, then it's served its purpose."

Rosenow is selling the piece through an auction, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards supporting families of the fallen constables.

Those interested in bidding on the painting can do so by visiting the link on her Facebook page. The auction began on Wednesday (Mar. 22) and will last a week.

So far, the highest bid is around $600.

If you don't have that kind of money to spend, Rosenow will be selling prints of the piece once the auction is over.

"Our police officers are people with beating hearts. They have families. They are brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers."
