According to a media report, South Africa has detected an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF).
The outbreak is said to have killed 32 pigs on a farm in North West province, outside of the control zone for the disease.
It's believed the outbreak may be linked to contact with wild animals.
The disease, which is does not affect humans, has been spreading across China since last year, resulting in major losses of hogs.
There have been no cases of ASF detected in North America.
