Two Southern Alberta farmers are taking on leadership roles in the Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC).

At their Annual General Meeting at FarmTech in Edmonton on Wednesday, January 30, Gary Stanford from Magrath was voted in as Chair, and Hannah Konschuh from Cluny was elected as Vice-Chair.

Stanford is taking the role over from previous Chair, Kevin Bender, who farms near Sylvan Lake and will step into a Region 3 Representative role as he's termed out from the board of directors.

Stanford is honoured board members have put their confidence in him to lead them in his final year on the board. 

“I’ve taken great pride in helping grow AWC into a highly productive organization that puts farmers first. I have sincere gratitude to Kevin Bender for his commitment to this organization and will work hard to deliver results as he did.”
